About

The Forum

The annual meeting of the people who finance, govern, produce, equip and staff world sport. Four days, one question a day, a host city chosen for each edition.

What it is

An annual international meeting that brings together the commercial, operational, technological, institutional and human sides of sport. It is built around four questions and judged by what happens in the room.

The question behind it: what concrete economic, professional and institutional outcomes can an international meeting actually produce? Every session starts from a real industry question and ends with something a participant can use, or it is cut.

Why it exists

Sport is an economy of about 2.3 trillion US dollars a year in revenue. Professional sport is about 140 billion of it. Most meetings on the business of sport serve clubs, leagues and media. The travel, goods, participation, production, technology and capital that make up the rest rarely meet, and almost no meeting measures what it produced.

Who runs it

Organised and produced by OSHIL GROUP.

OSHIL GROUP organises and produces the Forum: the programme, the Dealroom, the partnerships, the production of the four days and the contracts that carry them. Its founder brings more than five years of international experience on major and high-end events. The hiring floor of Day 4 is run with OSHIL FOUNDATION, a non-profit association, through its programme WE CREATE AND LIVE THE FUTURE.

Principles

Outcomes over attendance

The Forum publishes deals signed and people placed, with their rules, not a head count.

One partner per category

Partners have a defined role and receive a written report on what the partnership produced.

Facts that hold

No date, venue, speaker, partner or figure is published before it is true and approved.

Global by design

One identity, a host city chosen for each edition, English and French from day one.

How the Forum counts

A number is said only if it can be traced. This rule applies to this site, to every document of the Forum and to every session.

1
We name the measure: revenue, spending, value added, valuation or impact. Never one word for another.
2
We give the publisher, the year and the place.
3
We never add numbers from different studies or different measures.
4
An audience figure says what it measures: reach, average audience, fans, views or attendance.
5
A sponsorship fee is "not disclosed" unless a source states it; a reported figure is "reported".
6
A number that cannot be traced is not said.
